Tonight is the first showing of the new series of the teenage television show, Skins. After watching the advert of the show for the 50th time today – I really wanted to know who did the remix of The Reeling by the fantastic electro-indie band Passion Pit (the song on the TV ad).
After a grand bit of Googling I found that the song was wonderfully remixed by Bubblegum Sci-fi.
View the video of the remix below. I am currently trying to hunt down an MP3 version of the song so watch this space!
Update: I’ve found the track online, look to the bottom of this post for download and streaming links.

A wee bit late with this one sorry…
Cragga has produced a dubstep re-edit of the legendary 1975 ‘Please Mr Postman’ Motown song by The Marvelettes. The result is extraordinary and one of my favourite remixes of the year so far.

Great tune, budget video. However, Zinc has produced another bassy beauty with Caribbean influences. Good to see Ms Dynamite reinventing her self too.

A great track has come to our attention by Edinburgh based producer Hostage. Pirates has a dubstep edge but with Hostage’s own special flavour. Maybe it should be included in the next Pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack with that ‘heroic-action-film’ vibe. Check out the track below:

The fantastic electro indie band Metronomy have a great song titled Black Eye Burnt Thumb. The song was released on Metronomy’s little known debut album which was re-released last year after their summer success.
The track is a little more ‘dirty’ than the happy-go-lucky stuff we’re used to with Metronomy however it shows the band’s wider repertoire.

I was unsure about whether or not to make a post about this song as the only version I could find has Pete Tong’s big mouth all over it, but I really think it deserves a mention.
Max Vangeli from San Fransico and AN21 are on the remix of Starry Eyed by the effortlessly talented Ellie Goulding. The duo have prepared a chilled house track which suits Ellie’s voice.

Is it as good as the Jakwob remix though?
With its laidback house style and Russian vibes, Riva Starr’s I Was Drunk is a great tune to play at the end of any night out. The single, much like an attractive girl in a mini skirt, has been passed around the guys and they’ve all had their fun.
We’ve gathered a few of the remixes below, have a listen:

Afrojack has remixed a track called Better Run by Tocadisco. I must admit the original track is completely unknown to me but the remix is fantastic, I wouldn’t expect anything less from Afrojack.

Canadian duo MSTRKRFT released their brilliant second album Fist of God last year. On that album was a particular song that was played on dancefloors across the nation – Heartbreaker Ft. John Legend.
After the single release Laidback Luke remixed Heartbreaker and produced a tune which was considered better than the original track by many.
Now Wolfgang Gartner has remixed Heartbreaker and produced a track which is entirely different from both the original track and Laidback Luke’s remix – a refreshing alternative to both.
