We all love a drink now and again, some more than others, but apart from putting people in sometimes embarrassing situations, a good drinking session can build bonds between new friends.
Following on from our Top 5 Classic Drinking Games article we’ve compiled a list of our Top 5 Alternative Drinking Games.
5. Russian Beer Roulette
All you need is a six pack of beer and two of more players. The game is bound to get the loser messy in more ways than one!
Firstly, take a six pack of beer and shake one violently until it’s about to explode. Place all the cans back together so that the players do not know where the cans is. Ask the first player to chose a can (decide who first player is by a coin toss). The player then must take the can and place it under the nose before opening it. If the player survives then they must chose a can for the next player and down the can of beer they have just opened. The game continues until the can has been chosen.
N.B. You may need a shower after playing…
4. Beer Pong
A student favourite: take a table, lots of beer, 12 plastic cups and a ping pong ball and you’ve got beer pong.
Fill the plastic cups up with 1/2 pint of beer and arrange in a triangle formation. Each team is at either end of the table with their cups in front of them. The first team must take a ping pong ball and bounce it so that the ball lands in one of the opposing team cups. If successful, the team must finish that cup of beer. The game continues until one team has no more cups of beer left.
3. Buffalo!
Simple and easy and will draw embarrassing attention to the loser.
Everyone must drink using their left hand. If anyone uses their right hand then the person who spots them must start shouting BUFFALO! BUFFALO! BUFFALO! Everyone else must then join in the chant and the chant will continue until the culprit downs their drink.
2. I Have Never…
Players sit in a circle and take it in turn to tell the group something starting with the phrase “I have never…”. e.g. “I have never gone skinny dipping”. Everyone that has done the activity then has to drink. The game is a great way of finding out sensitive information.
What is said in the room, stays the room!
1. Finger It
A pint of beer must be placed in the centre of the table. All participants must place their index finger on the rim of the glass. After the count of 3, players must either leave their finger on the glass or remove their finger from the glass. Before the count of 3 a player is chosen to guess the number of fingers that will remain on the glass.
If the person has guessed the number of fingers on the glass correctly then they are safe and do not have to drink the pint. The game continues and another person then guesses. The loser is the last person to correctly guess the number of fingers on his/her turn. They must then down the pint.
