Many universities have already started their freshers’ week. It’s a fantastic opportunity to meet new people and, more importantly, to get to know the people you will be studying with over the duration of your course. Each day until the end of September we will be providing you with a helpful tip to maximise your freshers’ week and avoid any embarrassing situations.
To say ‘Never Go Home’ is a bit strong but try at least to stay at your university exclusively for the first few weeks or at least until the end of freshers’ week no matter how home sick you may feel.
Everyone is bound to feel home sick in the first few weeks, after all you are all in the same boat. But instead of running back home with your tail between your legs, suck it up and get on with uni life.
If it makes you feel any better, give Mum and Dad a call now and again but best to avoid the daily phone call, it’ll help you settle in quicker. Just make sure when you give Mummy and Daddy a call, not to do it in front of all your new housemates – you probably won’t want them to see you crying your eyes out!
The most important things to remember about home sickness at university is that almost everyone will be feeling the same way and time is a great healer, as you adjust to university life and your new surroundings the pain will fade.
